
In his dream, he speaks to an architect. Can a house and a lake fit on an 11-meter-wide plot? Is this some kind of joke? The task is nearly impossible; the architect must summon all his knowledge. His knowledge? Does anything even apply here? Lao-Tzu writes about this: (71) “To know what you do not know is the wisest thing. Those who do not know their non-knowledge will suffer. (…)” It is worth digging deep into the matter to ask the fundamental question: What is architecture? What is a house?
